After graduation from JM in 2000 I received a scholarship for drama at OCU as a theater major. While at OCU I was a member of the SOEA and an officer in
the black student association and Alpha Psi Omega (the theater honor society).
The first semester of my sophomore year I studied abroad in Ormiskirk, England,
UK. When I returned I was a member of The Letís Pretend Players (OCUís traveling
childrenís theater troupe). I was employed with both gear up and Americorp. I
was also in several productions at OCU including The Orphan Train and A
Midsummers Nights Dream. I graduated spring of 2004 and began teaching at Belle
Isle Enterprise Middle School.

As the Speech, Drama, Debate, and 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens teacher I organized school wide food drives, red ribbon week, and earth day activities hoping to encourage students to make positive changes to their community. My students acted in several productions including The Apple, Into the woods, and A Thousand Paper Cranes. I left Belle Isle in spring of 2006 and relocated to Brooklyn, NY to teach special education. NY was a blast! I took students on field trips to central park, grand central station, and even Washington D.C. My school, Middle School 313, was also active in raising money for and walking in the annual AIDS walk. Due to family obligations I returned to OKC in fall of 2008 and began to teach special education at Shidler Elementary School on the south side of Oklahoma City. I enjoyed elementary school very much, they are fun creatures to work with!

This last school year Iíve been teaching Pre-K in the Dallas area. Iíve learned that teaching colors, numbers, and shapes are just as important as any other subject. Iím very excited about teaching at John Marshall this year. The opportunity to teach fine arts under the leadership of my former choir director Ms. Caton is going to be a truely unique learning experience!
